Success occurs outside comfort zones...


This week I am hosting a conference in Munich, Germany for 600 IT professionals.

And for such a short sentence, anyone who knows me will understand just how far outside of my comfort zone that I find myself.

But anyway. Can Speak. Have jokes. Will travel...

I just introduced a speaker called Dan Cobley - who used to be the head honcho of Google in the UK. Dan gave a brilliant if somewhat frightening speech; peppered with quotes and examples of what is to come - and all of which had me quietly panicking until he got on to the mindset of Thomas J Watson. 

Thomas Watson, anyone?

No, me neither.

Turns out Watson founded IBM and the quote attributed Dan used in his speech was this... 

"The way to succeed is to double your failure rate"

And immediately this buoyed me. Finally something to cling on to and go forward with...
